Things to do~

Low Roses Bower boasts the famous 'Long Drop' believed to be the highest perched 'netty' in England! Today this famous toilet is no longer in daily use! The Warksburn through Roses Bower is breathtakingly beautiful and wonderfully peaceful; the perfect place to relax and reflect. It has inspired writers and artists.

over the years and patient observation at the right times of the day will reveal foxes, badgers, deer, red squirrel, owls, herons, birds of prey and small wildlife too numerous to count.

In addition, the farm has nearly 400 sheep (Hexham Blackfaces/Blue-faced Leicesters and pet lamb mules). Visitors are welcome to observe the work on the farm. The farm is also home to three horses, two dogs and several cats. We welcome pets as long as they are well behaved and respect the farm livestock. Horses are welcome and stabling and Magnificent trail rides through Wark forest can be arranged , with a guide if needed.

There are opportunities to ride bikes, or simply to walk through the miles of beautiful forest tracks, providing countryside views that will take your breath away. You can travel a short distance to explore the Roman Wall, historical castles, beautiful gardens, the big city (Newcastle upon Tyne), market towns (Hexham, Bellingham) or a little further to the Northumberland's splendid coastline. There are local facilities for private fishing (North Tyne and at Roses Bower) and golfing (Bellingham). Local pubs and restaurants serve Northumbrian fare, and you can buy local produce to cook or barbecue at Roses Bower.

Both the Lodge and the Farmhouse at Roses Bower have a good library of pamphlets, maps and books on all aspects of local interest, as well as collection of games, videos, CD's and cassettes for those occasional wet days!

Mountain bikes are available for use by the guests at a small additional charge. Both Lodge and Farmhouse are provided with gas fired barbecues and a "Midgeater" operates within the guest area to keep the bugs at bay!
